St Margaret’s Church

Listed Buildings in Ipswich: No 24 St Margaret’s Church

St Margaret’s Church

The 13th Century St Margaret’s Church stands to the north of, and overlooks, St Margaret’s Green, although there is very little green about it nowadays. Over the course of the last hundred years or so ‘The Green’ has made way to concrete and asphalt but, despite this, it is still a pleasant area of town and the church itself and the church yard are well maintained. To the rear of the church are the grounds of Christchurch Mansion that occupy the site of the old Holy Trinity Priory and it was to serve the population that grew around the priory that St Margaret’s Church was originally founded.
