If the rumours doing the rounds at this late hour are true then it looks like Roy Keane is no longer Town manager. Having lost seven of our last nine league games owner Marcus Evans, like most of the club’s supporters, has had enough and looks to have brought Keane’s 20-month reign at Portman Road to an end.
While something drastic needs to be done to arrest our alarming decline, and the not indistinct possibility of disappearing into League One, his departure, for me at least, leaves me somewhat saddened. I wanted him to succeed at Ipswich – his arrival I thought was something of a coup for the club – but his rumoured exit is confirmation of his failure at Portman Road.
He has struck me as a man with integrity and his post match interviews have been refreshingly honest. Will he go on to be a success elsewhere? Well I hope he has learnt something from his time in Suffolk and good luck to him wherever he may end up.
